Our Story
It's time for change
We believe no one should have to guess what’s happening in their own body.
For too long, our periods and cycles have been a mystery. The tools to truly understand them haven’t existed. As a result:
- 1 in 3 women face cycle-related conditions.
- Most wait years for answers.
- And across healthcare, women continue to be underserved.
Built from lived experience
Emm was born from a simple realisation. While health wearables can track everything from sleep to glucose levels, nothing existed to truly understand menstrual and reproductive health, something that impacts half the world’s population.
Have you ever tried to explain your cycle to a doctor, only to struggle with details like your last period, cycle length, or flow? You’re not alone. That gap in knowledge means many conditions and abnormalities go undiagnosed for months, or even years. Not being able to measure and monitor our periods and cycles accurately also means that we’re missing one of our most vital signs, a tell-tale sign for overall health that comes so regularly.
During lockdown, our founder, Jenny, was using multiple devices to monitor her overall health and wellbeing. But when it came to menstrual health, it was uncharted territory. That gap sparked a mission to bring the same level of innovation and clarity to menstrual health that we see across every other area of wellness. Change was needed. Not just in a lab or for a small sample, but for every body.
Soon after, Emm was founded on the belief that everyone should have access to the insights they need to advocate for their own health. That understanding your menstrual cycle should be as natural and reliable as checking your heart rate. That what happens once a month deserves as much attention as what happens every day.
Backed by science, driven by innovation
To create a solution that could work for every body, the design had to be impeccable. Emm’s smart menstrual product is the result of five years of deep user research and product development by a team of engineers, leading researchers, clinicians and advocates.
Transforming the way we live our periods and cycles
Emm isn’t just a product. It’s the first-ever passive, accurate, longitudinal measurement of menstrual flow, giving menstrual health the same level of clarity and precision we expect in every other area of wellbeing. What that means is simple:
For you: clarity, insights, and a deeper understanding of your own body.
For the world: the potential to build critical data that helps close the gaps in women’s health research, unlocking progress for generations to come.
Menstrual and reproductive health aren’t niche topics; they are central to human health. And for anyone who needs to hear this: Your menstrual health matters. Your data matters. Your story matters.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. We’ll keep pushing, learning, building, and sharing because the world is ready for smarter and better menstrual care.
